My Fav Solo Dates That You Must Try
Hello darling ;)
As you know I have not been the social butterfly that I want to be lately. Which has its downsides, but on the other side of the spectrum it also allows me to be adventurous and have plenty of “solo dates.” Recently I have noticed that solo dates are all the rage on social media. Whether that is to cover up the fact that more and more girls are turning into loners because of how society has put so much pressure on girls having tons of friends… Or it could be just because us girls like having fun, even when we are on our own. I think as a woman I am drawn to more social settings. Yes, I want to go and do my work in a coffee shop surrounded by tons of people, but no, please do not approach me. I just like being in the same room.
Anyway, no matter the fact of why solo dates have become a huge deal, I myself have found solo dates to not only be super fun, but also really relaxing. During a solo date there is no rush for time, no awkward talking while I am also trying to focus, no worrying about what standard I hold myself to in front of another person. During a solo date you can just be.
So, in light of all that, here are 5 of my favorite solo date ideas. Some of them I have done and others I have scheduled.
Painting Pottery
This is such a fun and easy solo date to have. I did this last week for the first time and I guarantee you that I will be doing it again. I just grabbed my plate, set myself up in a corner and painted away for three hours. Two little girls came up to me and complemented my piece. And the cashier girls complimented my jewelry. Literally a 10/10 date.
Go to the bookstore
This is a dangerous one for me. When I go to the bookstore without someone there to tell me not to buy the books, my wallet gets a bit damaged. But, it's so worth it. I actually went to the bookstore by myself three separate times last week and walked out with two books each trip. This is a really fun one because, unlike me, you don’t have to spend any money. There are chairs and couches at a bookstore for a reason. Just grab a book you’ve been eyeing and take a break. Bonus points if you get coffee afterward.
Window Shopping
Honestly, this is just a regular occurrence for me. Window shopping is genuinely one of my favorite things to do. Most of the time, when I refer to shopping this is really what I mean. You walk in a store and try on EVERY outfit that you think you would like. You have your own runway show in the dressing room, then you just politely put the clothes back. No need to spend money. This is a great solo date for us who identify as a “shopaholic.” Trying on the clothes feeds my need to shop. However, I have yet to come from one of these dates without something new in hand, so proceed with caution.
Going to a coffee shop to read or study
This one is for the more relaxed girls out there. I used to do this a lot during school, but now I really love to give myself a project that I can research and learn more about, then I go to a local coffee shop and do just that. Today, I went and worked on this website. I was there for five hours and it was GREAT! This is a must need if you want to get out of the house but not stretch the limit of your social battery.
Finally, a workout class
Now, if number four is for the relaxed girls, this one is for our social butterflies. I have not personally gone to a workout class alone. To be honest, I am scared. But, it is on my bucket list. A workout class is a perfect way to make friends and support your own health. I really want to join a running club, just cause I like running more than just a regular workout, but your workout class could be pilates or yoga or even a silks class. Getting your body moving is really important and if you can get a new friend out of it, even better.
Alright, those are my five favorite solo dates. I want to add more to my list, so if you have any suggestions let me know! Hopefully I will get enrolled in a workout class soon…
